Virginia Tech kicked off the ACC season hosting ACHA Division 1 George Mason University. Dominating the neutral zone, the Hokies capitalized on George Mason turnovers and celebrated their first win of the '23-'24 season.
Led by senior and Team Captain Rocco Salvato and a hard-hitting defense, the Hokies held their opponents to a single goal over 60 minutes. Rocco scored twice and his teammates added two more for a well-earned 4-1 win.
Rocco is a senior majoring in Physics and hails from Princeton, NJ.
The win marked head Coach Joey Mullen's 171st win, which places him in a 3rd place tie with former NC State Coach Mike Gazillo for ACC league career wins.
Congratulations to Rocco, Head Coach Joey Mullen, the entire team staff, and the Hokies for a phenomenal start to the '23-'24 ACC Hockey Season.
