The Wolfpack Outlasted the Hokies in Championship Game

As in the past, this year's Annual ACC Stephen Russell Tournament was competitive late into Sunday's competition with three teams in contention for the championship.  Wake Forest and Saint Joseph's had already finished the weekend undefeated and both teams were a top the leader board.  However, the last game pitted NC State and Virginia Tech against one another, and due the strong showing in the Skills Competition, the winner of the Wolfpack-Hokie game was going to be crowned this year's tournament champion.  NC State jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead which carried into the first intermission.  The Hokies, however, did not go quietly, as they clawed back into the Wolfpack lead and made it close, but eventually succumbed 6-4.  With the win, NC State was crowned the Champion of the 10th ACC Stephen Russell Memorial Tournament.  The Wolfpack now own all three "Crown Jewels" of the ACC:  The S/R Tournament Championship Trophy, the ACC Season Championship Trophy , and the ACC End 0f Season Championship Trophy.  Virginia Tech dropped to third place in the tournament, behind Wake Forest, which placed second - both were tournament high finishes for both teams.  Congratulations to the Wolfpack for a tremendous weekend effort and best of luck in the remainder of the season!
