Wake Forest Moves on to Finals!

WINSTON-SALEM, NC: The Wake Forest Demon Deacons took on the George Washington Colonials in the first ACCHL semifinal game of the night on Saturday, February 15.  It was Wake Forest coming out on top by a score of 5-2 before their home crowd at the Winston Salem Annex arena.

George Washington’s Alec Yerkovich got the Colonials on top to start the game when he scored a power play goal 3:22 into the game. Augie Burkhardt and Zach Arden had the assists. With 4:57 remaining it was Matt Solviletti tying the game for Wake with the lone assist from James Caras.

Two minutes and forty seconds into the second period, Nick Keroack gave the Demon Deacons the lead.  Drew Gebhardt and Blake Mueller had the assists on the Keroack goal. with 8:41 left in the second, Brendan Gregoire would extend the lead with a helper from Mueller.

The Colonials Zach Arden would bring GWU to within a goal, when he scored short handed just 3:22 into the final period. Sam Powers had the assist on the goal. Jennings Lobel would score for Wake Forest with 9:47 to play to extend the lead. It was James Caras scoring the final goal of the game for the Demon Deacons with 1:44 remaining with assists from Gregoire and Mueller.

Wake’s Kal Maier was in net, and made 19 saves on 21 shots. Graham Roy made 37 saves on 42 shots for GWU.
