NC State Strong in Opener

N C State University Beats Division Rival in Quarterfinals

Winston-Salem, NC: In the third quarterfinal game of the day, it was the North Carolina State University Icepack defeating the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks by a score of 4-1.

NCSU got on the board first in the first period at 9:42 with a goal from Zack Robinson, assists from Garrett Auriene and Parker Szarek. It would be Robinson notching his second goal of the game in the second period at 12:50, with an assist from Mark Miller. Just over two minutes later, UNCW would get on the board when Terance Grant would score with help from Patrick Benvenuto. At 17:55, the Icepack’s Charles Monteith would extend the lead back to two. Riley Johnson would finish the scoring in the third period for NC State.

Ryan Besemer would make 39 saves on 43 shots for UNCW, while Isaac Tawyer would get the victory for the Icepack making 28 saves on 29 shots.
