NC State to Skate for Cup

N C State Women’s Team Takes Semifinal Victory

Winston-Salem, NC: N C State University Women’s Icepack hockey team defeated the Georgetown Hoyas women’s hockey club 5-2 in a semifinal game during the ACCHL D2 tournament.

N C State would start the scoring in the first period with a goal from Madison Mueller and an assist from Emily Petersen. That would be the only goal scored in the first. Morgan Lopez would get Georgetown on the board with 14:36 remaining with an assist from Hanna Walsh. Emily Petersen would give the lead back to the Icepack with 6:52 remaining, with help from Leah Fawcett. With 1:15 remaining in the second, Carrie de Lestard would score what would end up being the game winning goal. The second period would end with NC State up 3-1.

Emily Petersen would get another goal with 1:22 remaining in the third, to further extend the NC State lead. Sofia Knusisto would score a goal for Georgetown with an assist from Meghan McQuillen with just :48 left on the clock. The final goal of the game would be scored by NC State’s Avery Dipasquale with :30 left on the clock. Emily Petersen would pick up her fourth point of the day with the assist.

eronica Heyl would get the victory, making 25 saves on 27 shots. Lily Brown would make 37 saves on 42 shots for Georgetown.
