Glass Makes 104 Saves in Losing Effort

Winston-Salem, NC: While the West Virginia University women’s team defeated the George Washington University women’s team 6-1, the real story of the game was goaltending. Freshman netminder Callie Glass stopped 104 of 110 shots on goal in the second ACCHL D2 women’s semifinal game. Willow Herman, goalie for WVU only faced 18 shots, saving all but one.

In the first period, it was Allyson Schwind who would start the scoring with 18:05 remaining, with an assist from Jennie Longo. With just 17 seconds left, Sam Miller would score with help from Sonia Chandi. The second period would see the Mountaineers score another two goals with 10:39 and 9:42 remaining. It was Julianna Baibos with the first goal and Allyson Schwind with the second goal. Abby Lewis assisted on the Schwind goal.

WVU would score two more goals in the third, before GWU got on the board. Julianna Baibos would score unassisted with 4:17 remaining. Sonia Chandi scored with fifty seconds remaining with assists from Julianna Baibos and Allyson Schwind. The GWU goal would be scored with forty-three seconds left when Trinity Diaz would set up Lexie Devkin for the goal.
