Rowan University - ACC Hockey M2 Premier Champions

Twenty ACC teams (along with guest teams Maryland and Tampa), arrived in Northern Virginia this past weekend for the 10th Annual ACC Fall Showcase Tournament.

First year ACC League member Rowan University rolled in early Friday afternoon and laced up against league rival UNC-Wilmington.  The Seahawks kept pace through two periods, but Rowan's depth finished strong for a 5-2 victory.  The Profs were challenged on Saturday to a hard-fought overtime victory against league/division rival, Virginia Tech.  At the end of regulation, the Hokies had tied the game at 2-2, and after a 5-minute OT, the game was still undecided.  The Profs prevailed in a three-man shoot-out netting the third attempt for the well-earned victory, 3-2.  On Sunday, Rowan faced off with a formidable NC State squad, but were dominant from the first face-off to the buzzer, winning 5-0.   Rowan was the only ACC Team Premier team to go undefeated in the three day weekend tournament, earning 25 Points.  Penn State finished second with 18 points and North Carolina finished third with 17 points.

Coach Dan DiMonte suggested to the tournament committee that the entire team (#family) be named the ACC Tournament MVP, and the ACC agreed.  The Profs came together for a phenomenal weekend of hockey and were the only Premier team to go undefeated through three games!

Congratulations to Coach Dan DiMonte and the entire Rowan University hockey program!
