Virginia Tech - ACC Hockey W2 Champions

The ACC Women's Hockey Teams arrived in northern Virginia on Veteran's Day Weekend to hold the first Annual ACC Hockey Women's Showcase Tournament.  Each team played three league games against ACC rivals.  The Tournament featured great collegiate competition at the Saint James Sports Complex.  Under the leadership of first year Head Coach, Lisa Girani, Virginia Tech edged Georgetown to take the first ever Fall Tournament Championship with 19 points.  On the ice, the team rallied behind the exceptional play of #12 Megan Toering.  Megan amassed more than 110 minutes on the ice, 8 goals, and 6 assists in three games leading the Hokies to a 2-1 tournament record!  Subsequently, Megan was named the Tournament MVP or her efforts.  Prior to entering Virginia Tech, Megan skated with the Junior 'Canes out of Raleigh, NC.

Georgetown University came in second with 18 points, also with a 2-1 record.  The University of Virginia came in third with 12 points.

Congratulations to the Virginia Tech coaching staff (Lisa Girani, Lindi Dalton, Lisa Krackow, and Heather Kidd), the entire Hokie Women's Team, and Megan for a phenomenal tournament effort and earning the Tournament Champion Honors!
