Mounteineers Wins First ACC M2 Elite Title!

West Virginia Leaves No Doubt In ACC Championship Game!

West Virginia (7-1-0-1) finished the season with as the #2 seed for the championship tournament.  Their first opponent turned out to be the toughest of the weekend as the Hoyas of Georgetown tied the game at 2-2 in the third period.  The game would go to double overtime before Mark Stankiewicz found the back of the net to end the most competitive game of the tournament.

In the semifinal game, the Mountaineers came to skate and rolled passed a surprising #8 Elon team who upset #1 Saint Joseph's University, 7-0.  Similarly, the Mountaineers dispensed of UNC-Charlotte in the Championship game 5-0, becoming the first ACC team to shut out their semifinal and finals opponents.

Mark Stankiewicz was voted the Tournament MVP.  Head Coach Tyler Kutek was voted ACC Coach of the Year by his peers.

Congratulations to Coach Kutek and all the Mountaineers for a historic season ending in their first ACC Championship.
