The 10th Annual ACC Fall Classic Tournament was held in Springfield, Virgnia for the 3rd consecutive year. Twenty-five teams participated (9 Premier, 16 Elite) in three league games throughout the weekend in what is the largest collegiate showcase tournament in the country. Only one Premier Team and two Elite Teams went 3-0, Penn State University, Saint Joseph's, and Wake Forest University. The Nittany Lions won the Premier Tournament Bracket by defeating tourney undefeated Virginia Tech, 4-3 OT on Sunday and on points, with 23. This was the closest tournament finish on record. NC State finished third with 16 points.
In the tournament, Penn State beat Rowan 7-4 on Friday, North Carolina 4-3 on Saturday, and Virginia Tech 4-3 OT on Sunday. The Nittany Lions offensive production was led by Wes Schwarzmiller.
Penn State is currently in first place in the Premier North Division with 21 points and is first overall in the ACC Premier League.
The Premier Tournament MVP for the weekend was Freshman forward Wes Schwarzmiller. Wes earned 7 points (3G, 4A) on the weekend. He hails from Bridgeville, PA and is enrolled at State College as a Finance major.
This is Penn State's first ACC Fall Tournament Championship.
