Duke ice hockey team took the ice against one of their ACC rivals, the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest this past weekend. The Blue Devils are much improved over the past seasons and are making a strong effort to bring the program back to a competitive level since COVID.
One of the reasons for recent Duke success has been the play of Sophomore forward, Alan Qaio. He scored 3 Goals and was credited with 2 Assists in the Blue Devils 6-5 victory. More importantly, he has been a leader on the ice, and the perfect ambassador for the university and league off. During the fall tournament a week ago, Alan averaged 34 minutes per game. Duke went 1-2 for the weekend.
Alan hails from John's Creek, Georgia and previously skated for the Junior Preds. He is a Statistics and Computer Science major with a 3.8 GPA.
"Alan provided an immediate impact to the Duke Hockey program as a freshman", said Head Coach Bill Trophi, "and has continued his consistent, high level play into this season."
Congratulations to Alan, his team mates, and the entire Duke hockey family.
