Wake Forest University - 27 October 2025

After hoisting the Admiral's Cup for the first time in their 13-year membership in the ACC Hockey League, the Demon Deacons were approved to move up this year to M2 Premier.   This season, with the stronger competition, the Demon Deacons are currently 2-3 in league play and in third place in their premier division.  This past weekend, Wake Forest played a home and home with local rival High Point University.  They split the weekend, winning the first game 4-0, dropping the second 4-2.

Sophomore net minder John Tolve got the start for game 1 and was dialed in from the initial puck drop.  John made 54 saves to shut down the Panthers' offense, one of the best front six in the league.

"John is a multi-sport athlete at Wake Forest, participating with the Hockey program and the Lacrosse program.  He has stepped up as a leader on and off the ice, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA." - Head Coach Mike Adams.

John is a Finance Major and hails from Duxbury Massachusetts.  He last played for Deerfield Academy.  In last year's ACC M2 Elite Championship Tournament, John put on a world class clinic enroute to the Demon Deacons first ACC Championship, and earned the Tournament MVP.

Congratulations to John, third year Head Coach Mike Adams, the entire Demon Deacon hockey staff and family for the win and a great start to the '25-'26 season.

Next up, Wake Forest travels to Columbia, SC in an ACC-SEC showdown with the University of South Carolina on 1 November.
