In the inaugural year, the ACC M1 Conference already ranks as the third best ACHA M1 league in the country! Oswego State University is no stranger to success with two consecutive trips to Saint Louis ACHA M1 Nationals. Last weekend, the Lakers split with their in state ACC rival, Syracuse.
After dropping the first game of the weekend to the Orangemen, the Lakers regrouped and held Syracuse to just one goal, winning 5-1. Head Coach Travis Hyde recognized sophomore Zach Derito for his strong contributions and play throughout the weekend, and as such earned honors at the League Player of the Week.
Zach was credited with 4 goals on the weekend! He originally hails from Baldwinsville, New York and last played for the Buffalo Sabers OJHL. Zach is in his second year majoring in Finance and Economics.
"Zach has consistently executed what he does best on the ice since he joined the team last year. Incredible athlete that puts in the work on and off the ice. Great to see him have a huge weekend on the scoresheet and earn some acknowledgement from the conference - well deserved." - Travis Hyde, Head Coach.
Congratulations to Zach, Head Coach Travis Hyde, the entire Oswego State hockey staff and family for a phenomenal season thus far in the inaugural ACC M1 season.
Next up this weekend, the Lakers return home to host RIT.
