The ACC Hockey All-Stars represented the league and each of their respective universities in an exceptional manner again this weekend - on and off the ice!  After a sluggish start against the Colonial States League, the ACC All-Stars rang up 36 goals in the final four games, losing only to the Tournament and National Champions League, the Super East.  The final results were:

CSCHL over ACCHL, 4-1

ACCHL over WCHC, 7-5

SEHL over ACCHL, 11-4

ACCHL over GNCHC, 9-1

ACCHL over MACHA, 16-7

The ACC Hockey League finished strong, earning 10 of their ACC record 15 points in the final two games.  The ACCHL finished tied for 4th place of 12 teams.  More important than the win-loss column - the exceptional conduct of this phenomenal group of student-athletes was once again commented on by numerous parents, fans, and coaches from several other tournament teams.

Among the highlights:

Each of our three goalies (“Patches” O’Halloran, USNA 1-1, John Jackson, UNC 1-1, Colin Langham 1-0) recorded a win.

Points leaders:  Matt Gellatly (UNC - 10), Chad Heal (GU - 9), Max Terhar (GWU - 9), (Trip Burke - 8).

“Hit Man” and Ince-Bomb recipient for most feared defenseman of the tournament:  Freshman Tyler Haigh (Naval Academy).

Grind Line:  NC State’s Garrett Sunda, Alec Engel, Sammy Banasiewicz.

Iron Man Award:  Despite a sprained neck resulting from a brutal SEHL hit, AJ Hamel finished the final two games with 5 points, including a hattrick in the final game.

Iron Man Award II:  Despite a sprained wrist, Maury Winter scored 2 goals in the final game.

Most Versatile Player:  Goalie prior to attending college, played forward and defense in tournament:  Vic Adamo (HPU).
