CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia Cavaliers wrapped up the regular season with a 7-1 win over the Naval Academy and finished with a record of 10-4 after two goals from 4th year Will Laverack propelled the Cavaliers offense.

Not even a minute into the game, Laverack gave Virginia a quick one goal lead when he was assisted by 2nd year Kevin McCollum. 3rd year David Ruohoniemi and 3rd year Trip Burke would each get a goal before the end of the first period to give the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead heading into first intermission.

2nd year Maury Winter opened up the scoring in the second period, followed by Laverack’s second goal of the night and 3rd year Jordan Friedman scoring within two minutes of each other. 2nd year Ben Foley scored a goal of his own with under two minutes left in the period to give the Cavaliers a commanding 7-0 lead heading into the third period.

The final period included a spectacle of saves from 2nd year goalie Ryan Montgomery as he only allowed one goal against Navy and held on for his eighth win of the year, which is the second highest win total in the ACCHL.

The Cavaliers will now travel to Annapolis, Maryland to participate in the ACCHL Championship Tournament, where they clinched the two seed and will look to avenge an early season loss to Wake Forest University on Friday, February 13, at 4:30PM at the Brigade Sports Complex.
