Duke University (22 November)

This is a first for the ACC Player of the Week - I received a write up from a hockey fan - his/her write up nomination earned Travis Buck his second Player of the Week Title and first this season:  "In a 4-3 win over conference rival, Elon on Nov 20, Travis, the junior Captain had 3 goals and an assist.  With these points he went over 50 points for the season.   And this month he exceeded the 100 point mark for his Duke career.  In addition to leading his team in scoring he has led the conference and the nation in D2 scoring for much of the season."  While this is not the normal procedure for nominating the PoW's, this does not take away in the least from the honor bestowed on Travis.  Sometimes our volunteer coaches are busy with their daily lives and may not have time to attend to all the details of ACC Hockey.  I attended the UNC JSAP tournament in Hillsborough this past weekend and saw Travis participated in three games, with over 110 minutes of ice time!  Besides leading in just about every category this season, he probably leads in time on the ice/game.  I know I can speak for the entire ACC family that we greatly appreciate our strong fan base and their interest in ACC hockey.   While a nomination from a fan is not common, I do receive several/year.  We should all applaud our fans who take an active role in supporting our teams and players - Duke fans have always been extremely loyal and very vocal in support of their team.  Congratulations to Travis, Duke fans, and the entire Blue Devils hockey team for a phenomenal first half of ACC Hockey.  The Blue Devils are back!
