ACC Hockey Finishes 3-3

ACC All-Stars traveled to West Chester, PA this past weekend and had another record breaking weekend for the League!

The team is hand-picked by the Captains (unique in the ACHA), chosen from the players who had participated in the tournament two years prior.  This year's Captains were Sam Banasiewicz (NCSU), Travis Buck (Duke), Jake Lessick (GWU), AJ Hamel (UNC), Raffi Keuroglian (UVA), Trevor Incledon (WFU), and Colin Langham (Elon).

The ACC All-Stars completed their first day 2-1 and atop the leader board, besting the Western Collegiate All-Stars 7-4, and the Independent Team 6-5, before succumbing to the eventual tournament champion Northeast All-Stars 6-2.  On Saturday, they went 1-1, losing their first game to the Super East, 8-2, before beating the PAC-8, 7-2, in the final preliminary game.  On Sunday, in the #3 vs. #4 tournament match up, the ACC All-Stars fell short against a very good Mid-Atlantic Team, 8-3.

The Stars go out to:

1) Sam Banasiewicz (NCSU) for his tournament second high point total of 10 points.

2) Luis Gimenez (NCSU) for his efforts as second on the team in points (8) and first on the team in goals (6).

3) AJ Hamel (UNC) and Travis Buck (Duke) both with 6 points for the tournament.

Coaching the team was Jeff Volkman (UNC) and Jon Moynihan (GWU) for the second consecutive All-Star Tournament.

It was a memorable weekend of hockey and a fitting way to finish the 2016-2017 ACCHL Season!  We will see y'all next season which kicks off in 125 days!
