UNC-Wilmington Seahawks

UNC-Wilmington has been accepted as a member into the ACC Hockey League and will compete in the Carolina West Division.

Seahawks Ice Hockey was founded in 2004, competing in the ACHA M3 Blue Ridge Hockey Conference for many years.  UNC-W has been well organized throughout the relative short history and competed at the highest levels of ACHA M3.  After dominating the BRHC for a number of years and reaching ACHA M3 Nationals, the Seahawks decided to go Independent M3 for the past two years.  In those two years, the team posted a 28-7 record and earned a bid to ACHA Regionals twice.  The Seahawks lost a close game to Georgia Tech for their final game in Regionals, which prevented the team from making its second trip to ACHA Nationals.  UNC-W has been planning to move up to M2, scheduling and competing with many of the North Carolina ACC teams for several seasons.

The Seahawks are a welcome member into the ACCHL and look forward to seeing them compete within our league.  Their division rivals within the ACC will be Duke, North Carolina, and NC State.

Congratulations to UNC-W and all the past student-athletes who laid the foundation to lead to this growth in the Seahawks program!
