ACC Hockey Hall of Fame - Class of 2018

Virginia Tech Coaches and Alumni again honored their ACC Hockey Hall of Fame Recipient with exceptional preparation and class.  Henrik Pettersson was rostered for the Hokies from 1998-2002.  The ACC Hockey League was in it's infancy, but the competition had already improved dramatically with student-athletes like Henrik who had been lacing up since his childhood.  Henrik was the leader on and off the ice - he was the Hokies Captain in his senior year and was voted the ACC Hockey Player of the Year.  He was also voted twice to the ACC Hockey First Team All-Stars.  Henrik’s "passion for the game and his commitment to elevating Virginia Tech hockey into an ACC power" are the reasons the ACC Hockey Selection Committee selected him for the Hall of Fame.  One of the voting ACC Hall of Fame Board Members said of Henrik, "There were six exceptional stand out ACC hockey players at the turn of the century.  The other five are already in the ACC Hockey Hall of Fame.  This honor is long overdue."  Henrik and his family flew in from Denver, Colorado where he works for a prominent engineering firm which specializes in space exploration.  He was presented with his honors in front of a packed home crowd and afterwards, he and his family cheered on the Hokies as they skated against their division arch-rivals, the University of Virginia.  Congratulations to Henrik, his family, the coaches, alumni who organized the event, and the entire Hokie program - we are honored and privileged to have such dedicated and exemplary personnel involved in ACC Hockey!
