The Charlotte 49ers closed out the regular season at historic Bojangles Coliseum on Saturday afternoon with 4-3 win over Life University.
FIRST PERIOD - Sean Gelband tallied the only goal of the period about midway through the period. Each team had 1 power play opportunity and neither converted. The Niners outshot Life 14-8 for the period.
SECOND PERIOD- Each team picked up a goal in the period. Greg Driscoll scored first and Life countered with a goal with 8 minutes remaining in the period. Just like the first period, each team had one power play chance and neither team could capitalize. The shots on goal for the period were nearly equal with the Niners holding a 15-14 advantage.
THIRD PERIOD - Phil Arnold scored 12 seconds into the period and Life got it back to a one goal game just 2 minutes later. Around the midway part of the final period, Mike Aquila made it 4-2. Life picked up a goal with 6 minutes to play but could get no closer as the Niners defense kept them away from the net. Charlotte had the only power play attempt of the period and did not convert.
