Catholic University Hockey opened their ACC season against new ACC member West Chester with a statement at home.  While West Chester hockey may be new to the ACC, the University has a rich and storied history now hosting three men's programs and one women's program.  However, the Cardinals did not hesitate to welcome the Golden Rams to the league with a 6-1 Final and have the Cardinals on the board with 2 points.

Key in the Catholic win was underclass Defenseman Matthew Hornick.  Matthew had 5 points (3G, 2A) against Millersville M3 and tallied another 4 points (2G, 2A) against Conference rival West Chester in their league opener.  Matt has already accumulated 24 points this season from the blue line.  Matthew hails from Upper Marlboro, MD and is majoring in Architecture.
